Owino Market is the largest open market in Uganda, occupying 7.04 hectares of land in Kampala, Uganda. It was established in 1971 when Kampala City Council relocated 320 vendors from Nakasero Market. The design philosophy for St. Balikuddembe Market Complex is space design, functional suitability and spatial relationship for buildings to improve the experience and quality of life of the occupants. The Market comprises of over 10,000 state of the art working spaces: shops, modern stalls, offices, restaurants, cinemas, banking halls, clinics, health centre, a health club, over 2, 000 parking spaces for cars, a loading bay for trucks and storage facilities. It will house the largest theatre hall in East Africa equipped with an alternative power supply centre.
